I am E.J. Keyes, a Mural Artist and a High School Art Teacher. I love public art because of the accesibilty and human interaction it creates. For me it is about building relationships and sharing a narrative with everyone that happens upon my work.
It begins with the collaboration with the owners of the mural site. What do they want to share with the world? We work up a vison and then I do my best to bring that vision to life. My goal is to surpass all expectations. Then the magic begins as artwork begins and the conversations start happening. People are instantly drawn to the process and become invested in the story. It becomes theirs as much as anybody elses. A new community bond is slowly knit together because of the new development. A Mural is much more than a picture on a wall, it is an investment in humanity.
